Ba Futuru is always looking for volunteer support! Our volunteers are what make our work possible and we have had more than 50 volunteers from countries across the world. You can volunteer in Timor-Leste or you can support us from your home country.
We are accept applications for various types of volunteers, including project management, teaching, M&E, fundraising, graphic design, photography, film making, etc.

What We Are Looking For in a Volunteer
We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude, believe in non-violent methods of conflict resolution, and are committed to working to assist vulnerable people in Timor-Leste. Your commitment is crucial to being able to contribute in a meaningful way, having a continuous flow of short term volunteers on different projects can make things chaotic for the beneficiaries.
Both students and professionals in relevant fields who are willing to work within Ba Futuru’s mission and values and guiding principles are encouraged to apply.
Relevant Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Strong research, written and analytical skills
- Flexibility
- Ability to work in a challenging environment
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to work independently and show initiative
- Relevant educational qualification or experience (i.e. Education, Law, International Relations, Development, Social Work, etc.)
We also have limited internship placements each year. Interns are usually required to commit to 3-12 months and internship fees are dependent on the length of stay.
