What Is the Early Childhood Development?

Inisiativa Dezenvolvimentu Ba Labarik

Changing the Lives of Vulnerable Children

Targets early intervention for at-risk youth, addressing the reality that fewer than 10% of Timorese children receive early childhood education.

Ba Futuru's Early Childhood Development program addresses a critical gap in Timor-Leste's education system. With fewer than 10% of Timorese children receiving early childhood education, the program provides play-based, child-centered learning for vulnerable children aged 3-6. In 2024, 65 children were enrolled in the preschool program. Trained educators use creative, culturally appropriate methods including storytelling, music, art, and structured play to develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills. The program also engages parents through workshops on early stimulation and positive parenting, creating supportive home learning environments.

This program is part of Ba Futuru's comprehensive approach to building a peaceful, positive, and productive Timor-Leste. Through interactive, human rights-based training models, arts integration, and community leadership strengthening, we work to create lasting change across all 13 municipalities.
