What Is the Quality Learning Environments?

Creating Quality Learning Environments for Young People

Works with teachers and school management committees to create quality, non-violent learning environments where young people can thrive.

This program partners with schools across Timor-Leste to transform classrooms into safe, engaging spaces for learning. Ba Futuru trains teachers in child-centered, rights-based pedagogies that replace corporal punishment with positive discipline strategies. School management committees receive capacity building in governance, budgeting, and community engagement. The program has measurably reduced violence in participating schools while improving student attendance and learning outcomes. By strengthening the relationship between schools, families, and communities, the program creates lasting institutional change.

This program is part of Ba Futuru's comprehensive approach to building a peaceful, positive, and productive Timor-Leste. Through interactive, human rights-based training models, arts integration, and community leadership strengthening, we work to create lasting change across all 13 municipalities.
